Gravid female peppermint shrimp, and a new pair of black darwin occellaris!

Printer-friendly versionPDF version

Well... so some new changes... dropped off the last of my available clownfish babies to the local shop Seascape Aquatics and picked up a pair of black Amphiprion ocellaris (known as darwin clowns due to the region).  Hoping I can get these two to start spawning soon but they appear to be juviniles still so now we play the waiting game... here they are (apologies for the poor shot) just after introduction into the tank

They have already begun their little mating ritual, and the smaller one has started his "home finding" routine by wandering by places and mouthing the glass / rock and checking in with the other for approval.  should be fun!

On another note, I've got some more fun pics to share today, I was able to obtain shots of two female Lysmata wurdemanni or peppermint shrimp who are gravid and carrying quite the load of larvae.  This also should prove to be fun!!  Since I am not currently geared for shrimp I am expecting the first trial to fail miserably but we'll keep trying to breed them ya know!

Note the small critters in the abdomen... those be larvae!

a shot of both of them

and thats it for tonights blog... off to my inversion table to relax and decompress... then the whirlpool to further relax my weary bones!
