So today I took the plunge and finally started my snail study in full throttle.  My plan is to monoculture two snails each in 8 separate culture jars, measure the shell growth over time and observe habits of feeding, breeding, and other life cycle aspects over time... should be a ton of work.

My first two problems... 1. how do I document and 2. how do I measure... I started by taking photos of each specimen before adding it to it's respective culture vessel... but the measurement... I looked in my drawer and found a postage stamp perforation gauge (used by stamp collectors to measure stamp perforation).  it had a nifty mm scale on one edge and I decided why not...
